The Muscle of the Soul

SATURDAY | JANUARY 4 | 1 to 3:30pm

The Psoas muscle, often referred to as “the muscle of the soul”, or “the seat of the soul” is located in the lower triangle and surrounds the major energy centers of the body, the Muladhara (root), Svadhisthana (sacral) and Manipura (navel) chakras. A flexible and strong psoas grounds us and allows subtle energies to flow through tissues, muscles and most importantly the spine allowing the body to come into divine alignment in order for life force energy to flow. In this workshop we will: — explore practical ideas using anatomy and fascial stretching techniques to strengthen, stabilize, and create flexibility in the lower back — apply this knowledge to classic Kundalini Yoga Postures — use mantra and pranayama to awaken and vibrate the lower triangle - deep relaxation and meditation to relax the psoas which in turn helps the parasympathetic nervous system to relax.
